Alex is the CEO and cofounder of Tools for Humanity, a global software and hardware development company developing the tools to bring blockchain and digital identity technologies and products to people. He is also a cofounder of the Worldcoin protocol, alongside Sam Altman and Max Novendstern.
Alex studied physics and computer science at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg in Germany. He was also a visiting student researcher at the California Institute of Technology. Alex leads strategy, development, and technology execution at Worldcoin.
Worldcoin utilizes a concept termed “proof of personhood,” in which users verify their personhood in the Worldcoin ecosystem to participate in its financial network. Alex led the development of Worldcoin’s biometric imaging device, called the Orb. The Orb scans an individual's eyes and generates an identification code based on the structure of the irises.
