Yelena Bonner

Yelena Bonner was born on February 15, 1923, in Mary, Turkmenistan. She held citizenship in both the Soviet Union and Russia. Yelena passed away on June 18, 2011, in Boston.

Yelena was a multi-talented individual who pursued various occupations, including dissident, human rights activist, physician, and writer. She was also involved in the human rights movement in the Soviet Union.

Bonner was educated at Saint Petersburg Lyceum 239 and Saint Petersburg State University. Her mother was Ruth Bonner.
