University of Malta

The University of Malta (UM) is a public educational institution in Malta, specializing in higher education and research. It was founded on November 12, 1592, by Manuel Pinto da Fonseca. The university is based in Msida and employs around 1,891 staff members.

UM has been known by several names over the years, such as Collegium Melitense, Pubblica Università di Studi Generali, Royal University of Malta, École Centrale, and L-Università ta Malta. The university's motto is "Ut Fructificemus Deo," which translates to "We should bring forth fruit unto God" in English.

The University of Malta operates within the education and university industries and is an accredited institution by the Ministry for Education and Employment of Malta and the National Commission for Further and Higher Education. UM is affiliated with various international organizations, including the European University Association, Association of Commonwealth Universities, the Utrecht Network, and the Malta University Sports Club.
