Childhood and youth
Full name is Luke Tyson Fury. The early years of the athlete's biography were spent in an idealistic village in Cheshire. He was brought up in a family of Irish gypsies, hence the nickname Gypsy King, which the heavyweight invented himself.
Men from the celebrity family participated in fist fights for 200 years, and the father was a professional boxer. John Fury named his son after Mike Tyson himself. The head of the family personally trained the heir, hoping to raise a champion. But at first the boy was not enthusiastic about boxing. One day, his father got angry and forced Tyson to put on gloves and go out with him to fight. Even then, a strong teenager managed to break his rib, which caused John delight.
Soon Fury began to participate in amateur duels. He never finished school, dropped out to help his father and brothers. At the age of 11, the boy was engaged in laying roads.
Box
In his youth, the celebrity statistics were impressive, and he played for both English and Irish fight clubs. In 2006, Tyson became the third in the World Junior Championship, and a year later he won the European Championship and received the ABA champion title. But in the end, he became disillusioned with amateur sports and decided to go professional, having a track record of 30 wins and 5 losses.
Fury made his professional debut in the promotion company of Mick Hennessy. The first fight in the middleweight category with Bely Gyongyos brought victory, and a month later he came out against the representative of Germany Marcel Zeller. Despite his solid experience, the German lasted only 3 rounds against the star and gave up.Gradually, the boxer moved from middleweight to the heavyweight category. 2009 was a truly triumphant year for him: the piggy bank of victories was rapidly replenished. Fury went up against John McDermott twice, and even in the second fight he could not take revenge – Tyson knocked him out of action with powerful knockdowns. The athlete became the culprit of the first loss in the career of Marcelo Luis Nascimento, and this bright victory by knockout in the 5th round gave the right to claim the title of champion of Great Britain. In 2011, another athlete who had not previously known defeats, heavyweight Dereck Chisora, came out against the star. Before the fight, critics and fans unanimously gave him the advantage as the reigning champion, but it soon became clear that Fury was a dangerous opponent.
The huge Chisora simply could not keep up with his lighter and more maneuverable opponent: powerful blows that still hit the target almost put Tyson out of action, but by the 6th round, the Irishman's speed and endurance decided the matter.
Years later, Derek tried to take revenge, but the professional experience of the opponent by that time allowed him to dominate with a clear advantage. The athletes lasted 10 rounds, after which the referee stopped the fight and gave the victory to Tyson. After Chisora's defeat, the boxer received the title of CHE according to the EBU version and held several more spectacular fights. But the most striking duel in Fury's career took place in 2015. The opponent was Wladimir Klitschko, who by that time had an impressive list of awards. The boxers were about equal in strength, and the audience was looking forward to their meeting. From the first rounds, it became noticeable that Klitschko made a mistake in strategy: out of habit, he tried to keep his opponent at a distance, but he began to deliver unexpected side blows.
The fight ended after the 12th round with a confident victory for Tyson, and former champion Klitschko was dethroned. So, the Irishman became the owner of the WBO, WBA, IBF, IBO and The Ring titles. But after the feeling of triumph came the devastation. Defeating Vladimir was Fury's lifelong dream, and now he didn't know what to strive for.Instead of continuing to train, the boxer allowed himself to sink into depression. During this period, a doping scandal broke out, and he decided to suspend his career. The champion gave up all the titles because he could no longer defend them. Only The Ring belt remained, the condition for preserving which was a fight with Alexander Povetkin, but the Irishman could not participate in it and lost his last championship title. After leaving the ring, Tyson began abusing alcohol, and later drugs, gained weight and felt like a jerk. He even thought about suicide, but realized that by doing so he would finally admit himself to be a weakling. Then the athlete realized that his only salvation was sports, and for the first time in several months he went for a run.In 2018, the Irishman announced that he was returning to professional boxing and wanted to fight Albanian Sefer Seferi. This decision did not please the British Boxing Control Board (Bbboc), but he was allowed to fight.
Fury made his first appearance in the ring with his usual outrage: before the fight, he asked fans to help choose suitable underpants by posting 3 photos to choose from on the Instagram page, at the preliminary weigh-in, instead of the traditional "battle of views", he picked up the Albanian in his arms, and kissed him before the start of the fight. At the time of the fight, Tyson's weight was 125 kg, and the opponent weighed only 95. As a result, Sefer Seferi lasted 4 rounds and refused to go to the 5th. Fury stated that he could have "knocked him out" in the first 10 seconds, but wanted to enjoy the battle, since he had not entered the ring for a long time.
Then the boxer defeated Francesco Pianetta by unanimous decision and went to fight against Deontay Wilder. Already in the first half of the match, the Irishman showed an advantage and twice sent his opponent into a knockdown, but he held on to the end. As a result, a draw was declared.
No less spectacular was the meeting with the Swede Otto Wallin. During the fight, Fury received two cuts, which could be the reason for the termination of the fight. But in the end he managed to continue the fight and was declared the winner.
After that, the Irishman met Wilder again. This time he was even faster and more agile, so he forced his opponent to give up already in the 7th round and awarded himself the WBC heavyweight title. This restored his status as a sports star.
In the spring of 2021, the preliminary date of Fury's fight against Anthony Joshua was announced - July 24. This meeting was a chance for the star to regain the IBF, WBA, WBO and IBO titles. It is not surprising that the Irishman took a responsible approach to training and in April posted a video on his Instagram account, which shows how he works out strikes. However, the fight was canceled. In October, Tyson defeated Deontay Wilder in the 11th round in a fight for the WBC and The Ring titles.
Personal life
The boxer's personal life turned out well. In 2008, he married a long-time friend of Paris. They met at a young age. Tyson's chosen one, like himself, has gypsy roots. His wife gave birth to five children - daughters Venezuela and Valencia Amber, as well as sons John James, Tyson Fury II and Adonis Amazia. Each boy's name begins with "Prince" because they are "the heirs of the King".Although the boxer has repeatedly confessed to adultery in the past, over the years he has settled down and devoted himself to his family. When he has free time, he is happy to help his wife take care of the children - he changes diapers and gets up to them at night. But, even despite the family lull, now the athlete continues to shock the audience with his antics and statements. For example, in an interview for the BehindtheGloves channel, he stated that he used to be a gigolo.
