Tondi is a subdistrict in the larger district of Kristiine. It is located in the city of Tallinn, which is the capital of Estonia. Tondi is located in the northern part of Europe and is surrounded by other neighborhoods such as Jarve, Kesklinn, and Harjumaa.
Tondi is connected to other parts of Tallinn by light rail, which uses modern and retro trams. It has a lot of historic architecture, with many of the houses made of wood and stone and other buildings finished with smooth plaster.
In 1912, a military fortress was built in Tondi for housing naval personnel. The building was used for military purposes, such as housing and education, for several decades. In 1991, Estonia was declared an independent state from the Soviet Union, and many military buildings were no longer used. However, in 2009, the buildings started to be restored and are set to be used as a housing and business district in 2024.
Tondi is a small district, and many of the buildings in the area are for functional purposes, such as schools, police stations, a soccer stadium, and businesses. One site in Tondi that has become famous is a large rock, which became famous in 2021 after a vlogger sarcastically declared it one of the most interesting sites in Tondi. The joke struck a chord with the vlogger's fan base, and now the rock is considered a site to see in Tondi.
