Tobe Hooper (1943-2017) was an American film director, screenwriter, film producer, actor, and composer. He was born in Austin, Texas, and held citizenship in the United States. Hooper was best known for his work in the horror film genre, specifically as the creator of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise. Throughout his career, he was a member of the board of directors for both Poltergeist and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (franchise). Tobe Hooper passed away in Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles on August 26, 2017.
