Thomas Dewing (born April 4, 1851, in Massachusetts; died November 5, 1938, in New York City) was an American artist, painter, and photographer. He held citizenship in the United States and was educated at the Académie Julian in Paris.
Dewing was a founder of the Ten American Painters and specialized in a variety of art genres, including Impressionism, Romanticism, Portrait, Landscape painting, Tonalism, Genre painting, and Nude (art)]. Some of his works include 'The Days', 'Lady with a Cello', 'In the Garden', 'The Lute', and 'A Reading'.
