Starrag (legal name Starrag Group) is a global manufacturer of high-precision machine cutting tools for milling, turning, boring and grinding. The company primarily serves other companies within the aerospace, energy, transportation and industrial sectors. Starrag has its origins in 1862 in Geneva, Switzerland, when physicist Auguste De La Rive and botanist Marc Thury founded Societe Genevoise d'Instruments de Physiques. In 1897, the company was officially founded under the name Henri Levy Mechanische Werkstatt in Rorschacherberg, Switzerland, where it is still headquartered today. The company adopted the name Starrfräsmaschinen AG, later shortened to Starrag, in 1921.
Starrag manufactures and distributes a wide range of cutting machinery worldwide. The company offers over thirty different kinds of lathes, grinding machines, machining centers and other machine cutting products. Starrag also provides global support and service for their machinery.Starrag is led by CEO Christian Walti, who also serves as head of regional sales for the company, and Michael Hauser, who serves as chairman of Starrag's board of directors.
