Sound of Boston is a Boston-based online music publication that focuses on the local music scene.
Sound of Boston was founded in 2013 by Knar Bedian and Jonah Ollman, who were both students at Tufts University at the time.
Sound of Boston was named "Best Local Blog" by the Boston A-List Awards in 2014 and 2016. It also was a Boston Music Awards nominee for "Music Blog of the Year" in 2017, and "Music Publication of the Year" in 2018 and 2019.
The blog has curated a number of "Listen Local" concerts featuring all-local bills at venues like Brighton Music Hall and O'Brien's Pub.
The Neighborhood Sessions are a recorded acoustic series that were "created as an extension" of the Local Spotlight feature of the website. The series have featured local artists such as Tall Heights, Anjimile, Latrell James, and Ripe. The bands typically perform at least one original song and one cover.
