Sergey Mikhalkov

Sergey Mikhalkov was a Russian and Soviet Union public figure and writer with a range of occupations including playwright, screenwriter, poet, lyricist, and songwriter. He also worked as a politician, war correspondent, translator, and public figure. Born on February 28, 1913 in Moscow, Mikhalkov was the father of renowned personalities Nikita Mikhalkov and Andrei Konchalovsky. He wrote in various genres, such as fable, verse (poetry), opinion journalism, and plays. Among his most notable works are the national anthem of Russia and the state anthem of the Soviet Union.

Sergey Mikhalkov was the recipient of numerous awards, such as Hero of Socialist Labor, Order of Friendship of Peoples, Order of Lenin, Order "For Merit to the Fatherland", 2nd class, Order of Honor, Order of the October Revolution, Order of the Red Banner, Order of the Patriotic War 1st class, Order of the Red Banner of Labour, Order of the Red Star, Honored Artist of the RSFSR, Lenin Prize, USSR State Prize, and Stalin Prize. Mikhalkov passed away on August 27, 2009, in Moscow.
