Career

Robin Wright began working as a model when she was 14 years old. At the age of 18, she landed the role of Kelly Capwell on the soap opera Santa Barbara, for which she received three Daytime Emmy Award nominations.

Robin made her film debut in 1986 in the movie "Hollywood Vice." She later starred in the film "The Princess Bride" directed by Rob Reiner. The actress' real fame came from her role in Forrest Gump (1994), in which she was partnered with Tom Hanks. Wright soon landed the lead role in Moll Flanders (1996) and starred with William Hart and Amy Madigan in the courtroom drama Loved (1996).

In 2013, Wright was nominated for an Emmy Award. On January 12, 2014, she was honored with a Golden Globe Award for her role in the television series House of Cards.

After Season 4 of the series "House of Cards" in 2016, Wright stated that she considered Claire Underwood to be Frank Underwood's equal and demanded equal pay for her work. Netflix agreed to this statement. In 2017, Wright was nominated for a fifth Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. During 2014, 2016 and 2017, Wright received nominations for the Television Critics' Choice Award for Best Actress in a Drama Series.

In October 2017, Wright was confirmed for the lead role in the series following Spacey's allegations of sexual harassment, which led to him being fired by the producers. That same year she played General Antiopa in Wonder Woman. This was followed by a role in Blade Runner 2049.

In April 2019, it was revealed that Wright would make her directorial debut in Earth[8]. She also starred in it. In 2020, Robin starred again in Wonder Woman: 1984.

Personal Life

From 1986 to 1988, Wright was married to actor Dane Witherspoon, whom she met on the set of the soap opera Santa Barbara in 1984.

In 1989, Wright began dating actor Sean Penn. Wright was offered a role in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991), but she turned it down because she was pregnant. Their daughter, Dylan Francis, was born in April 1991. Wright turned down the role of Abby McDeere in The Firm (1993) because she was pregnant with her second child. Wright and Penn's son, Hopper Jack, was born in August 1993.

After a breakup and reconciliation,[13] Wright and Penn married in 1996, and she changed her name to Robin Wright Penn. They came and went several times and announced their intention to divorce in December 2007, but the divorce petition was withdrawn four months later at the couple's request. In February 2009, Wright and Penn attended the 81st Academy Awards together, where Penn won Best Actor. Penn filed for separation in April 2009, but withdrew it in May of that year. On August 12, 2009, Wright filed for divorce, stating that they had no plans to get back together, and also removed the last name "Penn" from her professional name. The divorce proceedings were finalized on July 22, 2010.

In February 2012, Wright began dating actor Ben Foster. The couple announced their engagement in January 2014, but called it off in November of that year. Wright and Foster got back together in January 2015, but announced in August 2015 that their second engagement was called off and they finally broke up.

In 2017, Wright began dating Clement Giraud, the manager of the Saint Laurent fashion house. In August 2018, Wright and Giraud were married in La Roche-sur-le-Buy (fr.), France.
