Richard Theodore Greener (born January 30, 1844) was an American librarian, diplomat, and lawyer. Born in Philadelphia, Greener attended Phillips Academy, Oberlin College, and Harvard College before completing his education at Harvard Law School. Throughout his career, he served the United States as a citizen until his death in Chicago on May 2, 1922. Greener had a daughter named Belle da Costa Greene.
