Rachel Beer

She was born in a rich and famous Jewish family of Sassoon, who moved from Baghdad to India at the beginning of the XIX century. Since childhood, she has lived in the UK with her father, who was sent to the metropolis to represent the interests of the family business. She was educated at home, and in her youth, for charitable reasons, she worked as a nurse in a hospital.

In 1887, she married Frederick Arthur Bera (Bera), an entrepreneur of Jewish origin. Due to the fact that Beer had previously converted from Judaism to the Anglican faith, Rachel Sassoon's marriage led to a sharp cooling of her relationship with her family.
