Pope Sixtus IV

Pope Sixtus IV (born July 21, 1414) was a leader of the Catholic Church, educated at the University of Pavia. Born in Celle Ligure, he was named after Pope Sixtus II. Sixtus IV served the Church as Pope, an occupation he held until his death on August 12, 1484, in Rome.

He is known for founding the Capitoline Museums, which are located in Rome, Italy. The Capitoline Museums are a historic group of art and archaeological museums that hold collections of antiquities from Ancient Rome and other notable works of art. As the founder of the Capitoline Museums, Pope Sixtus IV contributed to the preservation and promotion of art and culture during his time.
