Pinetree Capital is a venture capital firm in Canada that invests in early-stage technology companies. Founded 1992 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada by Sheldon Inwentash, it started as a public shell that was formed to invest in technology companies. Pinetree raised initial funds of $2 million for its first venture capital investment. It usually invests in Series A and other venture rounds. Its portfolio companies include Fuse Powered Inc ( a company acquired by Upsight in 2016), Peeks Social (a global social video company that enables its users to create video messages and share them with the Keek community), and Augusta Industries Inc (a company that creates fiber optic software).
Pinetree Capital is publicly traded on the Toronto Stock Exchange (the "TSX") under the symbol "PNP".
