(10-18 seconds). In 2023, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics "for experimental methods that generate attosecond pulses of light for the study of electron dynamics in matter."

Pierre Agostini was born on July 23, 1941, in Tunis, Tunisia (at the time the French Protectorate of Tunisia). Agostini earned his doctoral degree from Université Aix-Marseille in 1968. After earning his PhD, Agostini became a researcher at CEA Saclay, where he held various positions until 2002.
