PhotoSpring was co-founded by Charles Huang and Dan Ho, classmates at UC Berkeley and co-workers at Sony Japan. Prior to founding PhotoSpring, Huang ran DigitalFoci, a specialty retailer of equipment for photographers. Huang was also part of the product team at Sony's photo site division, ImageStation. Prior to PhotoSpring, Ho held senior technology management positions at Adknowledge and Domain Development Corp.
In Dec of 2014, Huang and Ho founded PhotoSpring with the goal of improving the photo experience for consumers.
PhotoSpring is the first digital photo frame to employ a touch screen interface with a rechargeable internal battery. This improvement on the traditional digital photo frame allows users to interact with their photos.
