Peter Agre is an American chemist, physician, and professor, born on January 30, 1949, in Northfield, Minnesota. He is known for his research on aquaporins, water channel proteins in cell membranes that enable water transport across the membrane. Agre was awarded the 2003 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for this work.
Throughout his education, Agre studied at several prestigious institutions. He attended Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis, followed by Northeastern University. Later, he pursued his education at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.
In addition to the Nobel Prize, Agre received the Bloomberg Distinguished Professorships award in 2014. Currently, he resides in the United States and holds multiple occupations, including being a chemist, physician, and professor.
