Palladium (chemical symbol - Pd, from Lat. Palladium) is a chemical element of the 10th group (according to the outdated classification - the eighth group of the secondary subgroup, VIIIB), the fifth period of the periodic system of chemical elements of D. I. Mendeleev, with atomic number 46.

The simple substance palladium (under normal conditions) is a transition noble metal of the platinum group (light platinoids) of silver-white color.
