Otto Diels (born January 23, 1876, Hamburg) was a German chemist and scientist who is known for his work in the field of chemistry. He received his education at the Humboldt University of Berlin. Diels is best known for his discovery of the Diels–Alder reaction, which earned him the 1950 Nobel Prize in Chemistry.

His father was Hermann Alexander Diels, and he held German citizenship. In his career, Otto Diels held various occupations, including chemist and scientist.

Diels conducted his research and work in Germany and was guided by his doctoral advisor Emil Fischer. Among his doctoral students were Kurt Alder and Karl Wilhelm Rosenmund.

He died on March 7, 1954, in Kiel, Germany.
