OSCAR ISAAC HERNANDEZ

He was born on January 5, 1980 in Guatemala.

He received a classical acting education, graduating from the Juilliard School in 2005.

His first major role was as Shiv in the critically acclaimed HBO Films film Plutonium 239. Isaac then delighted audiences with the role of Joseph in New Line Cinema's Christmas drama "The Divine Birth," which chronologically sets the historical framework for the birth of Jesus. It was the first film ever to premiere at the Vatican.

The role of Romeo, played by Isaac in Romeo and Juliet, was greeted with rave reviews from critics. The musical version of Two Gentlemen of Verona, staged by John Gare and Mel Shapiro, was just as well received by the critics. Both productions were seen at the NY Public Theatre's Shakespeare in the Park program.

He played one of the lead roles in Beauty of the Father, a play by Nilo Cruz, directed by Michael Griff at the Manhattan Theatre Club.

On the theater scene, Isaac has been seen in such productions as Arrivals and Departures, When It's Cocktail Time in Cuba and Spinning into Butter. While a student at Juilliard, he played one of the lead roles in Macbeth; he also co-wrote the script and wrote the music for the show American Occupation himself; and can be seen on the stage in such productions as The Marriage of Figaro, The Birds, Three Sisters, and many others.

Attended master classes taught by such actors as Sir Ian McKellen, Fiona Shaw, Simon Russell Beale, Brenda Blethyn and Alfred Molina.

He writes music and performs it with his band.
