Jun Seba, born in the Nishi-Azabu district of Minato, Tokyo in 1974, was a Japanese record producer, DJ, composer, and arranger who recorded under the stage name Nujabes, his name spelled backwards. He was the owner of two Shibuya record stores, tribe and Guinness Records, and founder of the independent label Hydeout Productions. His style mixes hip hop and cool jazz, often sampling jazz artists such as Miles Davis and Yusef Lateef. He helped compose the soundtrack to the 2004 anime Samurai Champloo, which blends a feudal Japan setting with modern anachronisms, especially in regard to hip hop culture such as graffiti and rapping.
