Michael Nesmith (born Robert Michael Nesmith, December 30, 1942 - December 10, 2021) was an American musician, novelist, screenwriter, guitarist, and songwriter. He was born in Houston, Texas, and later attended Thomas Jefferson High School in Dallas. Nesmith held citizenship in the United States.
During his career, Nesmith explored a variety of genres, including country music, psychedelic rock, pop music, pop rock, contemporary and traditional folk music. Besides his musical pursuits, Nesmith worked in various roles as a singer-songwriter, film producer, singer, and author.
Nesmith was also known by several aliases such as Michael Blessing, Nez, Wool Hat, and Papa Nez. His mother was Bette Nesmith Graham, the inventor of Liquid Paper. Michael Nesmith died in Carmel Valley Village, California.
