Max Theiler

Max Theiler (born January 30, 1899, in Pretoria) was a physician and chemist who held citizenship in both the United States and South Africa. He received his education at a number of institutions, including St Thomas's Hospital Medical School, King's College London, the University of Cape Town, and Rhodes University.

Theiler was awarded the 1951 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. He passed away on August 11, 1972, in New Haven, Connecticut.
