Mario J. Molina

Mario J. Molina was born on March 19, 1943, in Mexico City . He held citizenship in both Mexico and the United States . Molina was a chemist and engineer known for his discovery of the Antarctic ozone hole .

Molina was educated at several institutions including the National Autonomous University of Mexico , University of California, Berkeley , and the University of Freiburg . His doctoral advisor was George C. Pimentel .

Throughout his career, Molina received numerous awards, including the 1995 Nobel Prize in Chemistry , the Presidential Medal of Freedom , and the 2004 Volvo Environment Prize .
