Marcel Proust (1871-1922) was a French novelist, essayist, critic, and poet. He used various pseudonyms, including Écho, Bernard d'Algouvres, Dominique, Horatio, Laurence, and Marc-Antoine. Proust was born in France and held French citizenship. He was educated at the University of Paris and the Polytechnic School.
Proust is the founder and author of the novel sequence "In Search of Lost Time," written in French. His other notable works include "Contre Sainte-Beuve," "Jean Santeuil," "Pastiches et mélanges," "The Prisoner," and "The Noise of Time". Proust's works belonged to various genres, such as novels, essays, pastiches, and novel sequences.
In addition to his literary achievements, Proust is also known as the author of the "Questionnaire de Proust," a list of questions designed to reveal the personal preferences of the respondent. Throughout his career, Proust received various accolades, including the Grand Prix du roman de l'Académie française. He passed away in Paris in 1922.
