Louis Sullivan (1856-1924) was an American architect and designer born in Boston and educated at The English High School, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts. Sullivan held citizenship in the United States and had significant contributions to the field of architecture, being known for his work in various notable buildings and structures.
Some of his most recognized works include the Martin Ryerson Tomb, Holy Trinity Orthodox Cathedral in Chicago, Auditorium Building in Chicago, Carrie Eliza Getty Tomb, Wainwright Building, Prudential (Guaranty) Building, James Charnley House, Charlotte Dickson Wainwright Tomb, McVicker's Theater, and the Van Allen Building. Some other notable works also include the Carson Pirie Scott store, St. Paul United Methodist Church, Krause Music Store, and National Farmer's Bank.
Louis Sullivan passed away in 1924 in Chicago.
