Lawrence Klein

Lawrence Klein was an economist and scientist born on September 14, 1920, in Omaha, Nebraska . Klein was a citizen of the United States and later died in Gladwyne, Pennsylvania, on October 20, 2013 .

Klein received his education from several prestigious institutions, such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) , University of Pennsylvania , University of California, Berkeley , and Los Angeles City College . His doctoral advisor was Paul Samuelson .

Throughout his career, Klein advised several doctoral students, including Arthur Goldberger, Meghnad Desai, E. Roy Weintraub, Nariman Behravesh, Taku Yamamoto, Bennett Harrison, and Ignazio Visco . Klein had a daughter, Rachel Klein, who is a novelist .

Klein was known for his work in macroeconometric forecasting models and contributed in the academic disciplines of economics and macroeconomics . In recognition of his contributions, Klein received the 1980 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences .
