Main article: The history of Kazan football

The current team was created on the basis of Kazan Aviation Plant No. 22 named after S. P. Gorbunov. The names of the team, due to the fact that it represented a defense enterprise that needed some kind of secrecy, were constantly changing — "The Leninsky District Team" (aka p/I 747), "Wings of the Soviets", "Iskra", "Rubin". Since 1948, she participated in the RSFSR championship. The leaders of the team in the late 1940s - early 1950s were Viktor Boikov, Aram Musailov, Grigory Runenkov, Ivan Noktikov, Bulat Khazhiev and his friend, Konstantin Sundatov. In the period from 1948 to 1957, the factory workers took 3rd place 3 times and 2nd place 6 times in the Volga region of the RSFSR championship. In 1956, the team made it to the final round, which was held in Grozny and took 9th place out of 13 in this tournament.

The team has been playing in the Top Division since 2003. Immediately after entering the top division, the club won bronze medals, and in 2008, on its 50th anniversary, became champion three rounds before the end of the championship.

The Heyday of the September Era (1958-1965)[edit / edit code]

The composition of the FC Rubin team. 1965.

In 1958, a team of masters appeared in Kazan for the first time. This is due to the successful performance of the S. P. Gorbunov plant team in the RSFSR championship. The club was named "Iskra" and ended up in the first zone of the USSR championship of class "B". The Kazan team played their debut match against Spartak Kherson. This match ended in defeat 2:4. The season was not the most successful: the team finished it in 14th place out of 16. At the same time, four head coaches managed to change during the year.

At the end of the season, at the end of 1958, the Iskra club was headed by Nikolai Sentyabrev, who led the team for the next 13 years. Before Iskra, Nikolai Ivanovich coached the Ivanovo Textile Worker. At the end of the season, the Kazan team took 5th place, which is 9 positions higher than last year's result.

The 1960 season proved to be more successful. According to the results of the first round, the team suffered only one defeat, but the second round was more difficult. At the end of the season, Kazan was in 4th place. In August 1960, the opening of the Central Stadium took place, and on August 21, the debut match was played at the new arena, in which Iskra defeated Metallurg from Kamensk-Uralsky with a score of 4:1.

The start of the 1961 season was reminiscent of the previous season. The team again successfully played in the first round and unsuccessfully in the second
