Justus Lipsius (1547-1606) was a historian, philosopher, and professor from the Spanish Netherlands, now known as Belgium. He was born in Overijse on October 18, 1547. Lipsius held citizenship in the Netherlands, Belgium, and the Spanish Netherlands.
Lipsius was educated at the Old University of Leuven and the Université catholique de Louvain. One of his notable doctoral students was Erycius Puteanus.
