Sosa began his professional boxing career in November 2009.
On June 24, 2016, Jason Sosa fought with experienced unbeaten Dominican boxer Javier Fortuna (29-0-1, 21KOs), who held the WBA super featherweight world title [1]. Defeating whom by technical knockout in the 11th round, Sosa won the title of regular WBA world champion.
On February 15, 2017, it became known that Jason Sosa decided to leave the WBA "regular" world champion title, as he was the mandatory contender for the fight for the WBA "super champion" world title with Panamanian Jesreel Corrales (21-1-0 -1, 8KOs), but refused this fight and was forced to part with his title. Instead, Jason chose a fight against WBO world champion Ukrainian Vasily Lomachenko (7-1, 5KOs), which took place on April 8, 2017 [3].
