Jane Stanford (25 August 1828 – 28 February 1905) was an American philanthropist and a co-founder of Stanford University. She was born in Albany, New York and held citizenship in the United States. Jane Stanford is the mother of Leland Stanford Jr., after whom the university is named.

Together with her husband Leland Stanford, she founded Stanford University in honor of their son, Leland Stanford Jr., who passed away at a young age. Jane Stanford played a crucial role in the establishment and development of the university during her lifetime.

Jane Stanford passed away on 28 February 1905 in Oahu, Hawaii. Throughout her life, she dedicated her time and efforts to philanthropy and the growth of Stanford University.
