James Henry Breasted (born August 27, 1865) was an American anthropologist, historian, and pharmacist from Rockford, Illinois. He held United States citizenship and was educated at Yale University. Breasted founded the University of Chicago Oriental Institute, which focuses on the study of ancient Near East civilizations. He passed away on December 2, 1935, in New York City.
