Irina Rodnina (born September 12, 1949) is a Russian politician, Olympic champion, figure skater, and statesman. She was born in Moscow. Rodnina holds citizenship in Russia and formerly in the Soviet Union. She studied at the Russian State University of Physical Education, Sport, Youth and Tourism.
Rodnina is known for being a Soviet figure skater, three-time Olympic champion, ten-time world champion, as well as a Russian public and statesman, and deputy. She is currently employed by the Government of Russia. Rodnina is also the mother of Alyona Minkovski.
Throughout her career, Rodnina has received numerous awards, including the Order "For Merit to the Fatherland" 2nd, 3rd, and 4th class, the Order of Friendship, the Order of Lenin, the Order of the Red Banner of Labour, and an Olympic Bronze Medal.
