Ernst Ingmar Bergman, also known as Ingmar Bergman, was born on July 14, 1918, in Uppsala, Sweden. He was a Swedish film director, screenwriter, producer, and playwright. Bergman was educated at Stockholm University and held Swedish citizenship.
Ingmar Bergman directed numerous notable films including The Seventh Seal, Autumn Sonata, and Fanny and Alexander. Throughout his career, he received various awards, such as those at the Cannes Film Festival, Berlin International Film Festival, and Gothenburg Film Festival.
Bergman also worked as a theatre director, playwright, author, film producer, and actor. Some of his authored works include In the Presence of a Clown.
He was married to Ingrid von Rosen and had six children: Linn Ullmann, Eva Bergman, Daniel Bergman, Anna Bergman, Mats Bergman, and Lena Bergman. Bergman's father was Erik Bergman, a Lutheran minister.
Ingmar Bergman passed away on July 30, 2007, in Fårö, Sweden.
