HUMPHREY BOGART

HUMPHREY DEFOREST BOGART

He was born on December 25, 1899, in New York (USA).

He was born into the family of surgeon DeForest Bogart and artist-illustrator Maude Humphrey. The young man was destined to be a doctor, but. In 1934, after a long and unsuccessful attempts to begin a kinokarera, Humphrey returned to New York to play again, as in his early youth, on stage. The role of the killer in the production of "The Petrified Forest" by Robert Sherwood, brought him real success with the audience and critics. But the brilliant continuation of his career was not followed. Professional difficulties accompanied by family turmoil. Marriage fell apart. The new attachment and future wife - actress Mayo Methot - was attached not only to Humphrey, but also to alcohol. And in the movies Boggie finally got lucky. One of the actors, George Raft, turned down a role in the movie 'High Sierra', and the only available actor was Bogart, and the studio gave him the role. The film became a resounding success and allowed Bogart to star in the third version of The Maltese Falcon. The next year the actor played at Houston in the war movie "Across the Pacific. And in 1942 it happened that the director Michael Curtitz decided to put in a movie a little-known play "Everybody Comes to Ric. The film was called Casablanca. Eight nominations, three Oscars, and enrollment in the top ten films of our time - the greatest success, despite the fact that the script at the time of the start of filming was not yet finished, the actors received dialogue just before the "Action!" command sounded. The finale was filmed in two versions because they couldn't decide who to leave the heroine with.

Shortly after the movie came out on the screen Bogart met the young actress Lauren Bacall, whom he married immediately after his divorce from his third wife. In 1949-m they had a son, Stephen, and in 1952-m - a daughter, whom Bogart named Leslie Howard.

On screen Bogart was a tough guy, but in life a soft and very vulnerable. Saving his third wife from drinking, himself addicted to booze. Bogart was a rabid smoker of his favorite brand Chesterfield. It seemed that he even fell asleep with a cigarette.

In February 1956 the actor was forced to lie down for surgery for cancer of the throat.

January 14, 1957 Humphrey Bogart died at his home in Holmby Hills in Hollywood.
