Gigit was created for the purpose of booking events and providing services that connect bands and artists to events and venues. The company was founded by Tegan Gaan, in 2012, in Santa Monica, California, United States.

The company looks to create opportunities for artists to get paid for playing their music in the time of live-streaming. They also want to help musicians and acts avoid piracy. To do so they take on the role of a middleman between artists and event planners or venues. Their process is similar to booking a rental car, an airbnb, or a dog sitter.
