Frederick III of Denmark was born on 18 March 1609 in Haderslev and died on 9 February 1670 at Copenhagen Castle. He was the son of Christian IV of Denmark and Anne Catherine of Brandenburg and held Danish nationality.
Frederick III held several occupations, including a priest, politician, and king. He is known for serving as the King of Denmark and Norway from 1648 until his death in 1670. He governed under the name Frederick II as a diocesan administrator.
Frederick III had numerous children, including Elizabeth of Denmark, Duchess of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, Christian V of Denmark, Princess Anna Sophie of Denmark, Princess Wilhelmine Ernestine of Denmark, Princess Frederica Amalia of Denmark, Prince George of Denmark, Ulrika Eleonora of Denmark, and Ulrik Frederik Gyldenløve.
Frederick III's mother, Anne Catherine of Brandenburg, held Danish citizenship.
