Edward Gaming, also known as EDG Hycan, is an eSports organization based in Shanghai, China. It is well-known for its League of Legends (LoL) team, which was founded in 2013. This team often wins gaming competitions throughout the world and has done so since its inception. There are six players in the organization at any time, and players can vary from season to season.
During the team's inaugural season in 2014, the players found success regionally in the League of Legends Pro League (LPL). In the following year, the team finished first in the LPL spring season. They won several tournaments throughout the year but did not advance to the world championship. In 2016, the team won tournaments throughout the seasons and eventually secured a spot in the 2016 Season World Championships (Worlds) but ultimately lost to the Korean team.
The 2017 season brought some losses, with EDG losing its LPL title when it lost the spring playoffs. The team still went to Worlds and tied for third place. The team came in first place in 2018 for the LPL summer season and finished fifth at Worlds. 2019 and 2020 were slow years for the team, and they did not win any titles.
EDG made a comeback in 2021 when the team placed third in the spring playoffs and won the summer playoffs. After they secured a place in worlds, they beat several other teams and won the LoL World Championships with a prize of nearly $500,000. In 2022, the team won third place in the summer playoffs but did not defend its championship title, losing to the Korean team DRX.
