Douglas Hartree

Douglas Rayner Hartree was born on March 27, 1897, in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire , and held citizenship in the United Kingdom . His extensive education background includes the University of Cambridge, St John's College, Cambridge, and Bedales School.

Throughout his career, Hartree held various occupations including mathematician, physicist, professor, computer scientist, and chemist. Among his notable works is the development of the Hartree–Fock method .

He was a doctoral student of Ernest Rutherford and later advised numerous doctoral students including Oscar Buneman , Aaron Klug, Charlotte Froese Fischer, and John Crank.

Hartree passed away on February 12, 1958, in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire.
