General data and historical facts
In 1852, the village of Volno-Khristianovsky was founded on the site of the modern city.
The first inhabitants of the settlement were peasants from the village of Dur-Dur and the village of Kuskha-Maikho.
After a while, the village of Volno-Khristianovsky was transformed into the village of Novokhristianovskoye, which soon became known as Khristianovskoye.
At the end of the 19th century, active revolutionary unrest took place in Khristianovsky.
In the summer of 1917, the revolutionary democratic party "Kermen" was opened in the village, which a year later merged with the Bolsheviks.
In 1934, by decree of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee, the village of Khristianovskoe was renamed Digora.
In 1964, at the initiative of Nikita Khrushchev, the village of Digora was transformed into a city.
