Chris Chelios, officially known as Christos Kostas Chelios[(74602056)], is an American former professional ice hockey defenseman[(74602072)] who was born on 25 1 1962[(1656748)] in Chicago[(11107496)]. He is a citizen of the United States[(10103672)] and also has Canadian nationality[(74602037)]. Chelios attended the University of Wisconsin–Madison[(1656749)], Mount Carmel High School in Chicago[(74602038)], and Mira Mesa Senior High School[(74602039)].
During his career, Chelios received numerous awards, including the Norris Trophy in 1989[(74603434)], 1993[(74603416)], and 1996[(74603409)], as well as the NHL Plus/Minus Award in 2002[(74603441)]. He was also a Stanley Cup champion in 1986 with Montreal[(74603494)] and in 2002 and 2008 with Detroit[(74603494)]. Additionally, Chelios earned the titles of Best Defenseman in 1981[(74603458)], NHL All-Rookie Team in 1985[(74603477)], and NHL First All-Star Team[(74603545)].
His father is Gus Chelios[(74602115)], and his mother is Susan Chelios[(74602147)]. Chris has four children: Dean (born 1989)[(74602245)], Jake (born 1991)[(74603238)], Caley (born 1993)[(74603253)], and Tara (born 1996)[(74603269)]. He is partnered with Tracee[(74602224)].
After his retirement from professional ice hockey, Chelios became a restaurateur[(1656752)]. He founded Cheli's Chili Bar[(74603313)] and also served as its CEO[(74603312)].
