Chester Carlson (1906-1968) was an American physicist, lawyer, businessperson, and patent attorney. He was born in Seattle and held citizenship in the United States. Throughout his education, Carlson attended California Institute of Technology, Riverside City College, and New York Law School. He passed away in New York City in 1968. In recognition of his accomplishments, Carlson was posthumously inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame in 1981.
