Bob Balaban

Bob Balaban is an American actor, film director, producer, and screenwriter born on August 16, 1945, in Chicago. He holds citizenship in the United States. Balaban is known for his work in various film and TV genres, including science fiction, drama, horror, comedy, and western.

Balaban first began his career in the entertainment industry in 1965. Throughout his career, he has served as a director for numerous TV series and films such as Legend, Eerie, Indiana, Tales from the Darkside, Amazing Stories (1985 TV series), Parents, My Boyfriend's Back, The Last Good Time, Oz, Strangers with Candy, The Twilight Zone, Nurse Jackie, The Exonerated, Bernard and Doris, Swingtown, Alpha House, and more. In addition to his directing work, Balaban has also starred in notable productions like Speed-the-Plow, Plaza Suite, A Delicate Balance, The Inspector General, Some of My Best Friends, The Mod Squad, and Hank.

Bob Balaban received his education from Colgate University and the Latin School of Chicago. In terms of awards, he has received accolades from the British Academy Film Awards, Academy Awards, Golden Globe Awards, Primetime Emmy Award, and Screen Actors Guild Awards. One of his most memorable achievements is his nomination for the Academy Award for Best Picture for his work as a producer and actor in Gosford Park (2001).
