Aziz Sancar

Aziz Sancar was born on September 8, 1946, in Savur. He holds dual citizenship in Turkey and the United States. Sancar is a biochemist, chemist, and geneticist by occupation. He studied at both Istanbul Technical University and the University of Texas at Dallas.

Currently, Sancar resides in North Carolina and Turkey while working at The University of North Carolina School of Medicine. He has received numerous accolades including the 2015 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, membership in the National Academy of Sciences, and the 2007 Vehbi Koç Award.
