Aretha Franklin

Aretha Franklin, also known as Aretha Louise Franklin, was born on March 25, 1942, in Memphis, Tennessee. She was a talented pianist and songwriter, known by the nickname "Queen of Soul". Her musical genres included funk, jazz, pop music, rhythm and blues, soul music, gospel music, and pop rock.

Aretha was the daughter of C. L. Franklin, a preacher, and Barbara Siggers Franklin. She received her education at Northern High School in Detroit, Michigan, and later at the renowned Juilliard School.

Throughout her career, Aretha Franklin was based in Detroit, where she eventually passed away on August 16, 2018.
