Ardon is a small town in North Ossetia, located on the Ossetian inclined plain, 39 kilometers from the republican center of Vladikavkaz.
The area of the settlement is 20.7 square kilometers.
General data and historical facts
The first settlement on the site of the modern city was founded in 1825.
In 1838 next to the settlement was formed Stanitsa Ardonskaya.
In 1868 in the village was opened Ossetian clergy school, which 27 years later was reorganized into a Theological Seminary.
In 1914 in the settlement there were five manufacturing and twenty dairy shops, over sixty industrial and commercial establishments. At that time the population of Ardon reached 9.5 thousand people.
After the revolution the village of Ardon and the village of Ardonskaya were merged into one large settlement.
In 1921 a railway line from Darg-Kokh to Ardon was put into operation.
In 1964 the settlement was given the status of a city and the name Ardon.
Industrial enterprises: Glassworks, Distillery, Asphalt Plant, Stone Crushing Plant "Progress", Butter and Cheese Plant.

Ardon has a moderate continental climate. Winters are mild and short. The average temperature in January is -2.2 degrees.
Summers are very warm and long. The average temperature in July is +21.2 degrees.

Sights
1.Chapel of St. Panteleimon the Healer - a small Christian building was built at the hospital in 2008.
2.Temple of the Holy Great Martyr George the Victorious - Orthodox church was founded in 1885. In 1901 the church was consecrated. In the 1990s the church was reconstructed.
3.Ardons museum of culture and education - the cultural institution has about 300 items.
