Antoine Arnauld

Antoine Arnauld (1612-1694) was a versatile French intellectual, known for his work as a poet, philosopher, mathematician, writer, and statistician. Born in Paris and educated at the University of Paris, he held French citizenship and later died in the City of Brussels.

Arnauld's father was Antoine Arnauld, a lawyer. Throughout his career, Antoine Arnauld used various pseudonyms, including Antoine Godefroy, Bonneval, Docteur de Sorbonne, Docteur en théologie, J. Callaghan, Le Grand Arnauld, Sieur de La Motte, Theologus parisiensis, and Un Ecclésiastique.
