Amanda Palmer , born Amanda MacKinnon Palmer on April 30, 1976 , is a singer-songwriter, musician, composer, and author from the United States . Palmer was born in Boston, Massachusetts , and attended Lexington High School in Massachusetts before pursuing her higher education at Wesleyan University .

Throughout her career, Palmer has been involved in various creative roles including pianist , musician , playwright , writer , songwriter , composer and singer . She often works within genres such as alternative rock , dark cabaret , and folk music . Amanda Palmer is also known by the aliases Amanda Fucking Palmer and AFP .
