Alexander McCall Smith

Alexander McCall Smith (born August 24, 1948) is a teacher, writer, and novelist from the United Kingdom. He was born in Bulawayo, and is currently based in Edinburgh.

McCall Smith received his education at the University of Edinburgh and Christian Brothers College, Bulawayo. He is best known for his work on the No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency series, with the first book of the same title published in 1998. Other notable works of McCall Smith include '44 Scotland Street' series, 'The Sunday Philosophy Club' series, and 'Portuguese Irregular Verbs'. In total, Alexander McCall Smith has authored over 30 books, covering a wide range of topics and characters.
